Sony has introduced the new Xperia ZR encompassed with features similar to Xperia Z. The dual resistant mobile phone has quality to function underwater. Apple iPhone 5S may come out in July and iPad 5 in October

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook’s salary figure slides as he earns 99% less in 2012

However, for Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple Inc., who took over the company’s CEO post in August 2011; when Steve Jobs got retired due to his prolong illness due to pancreatic cancer, the year 2012 did not prove to be a good one in terms of annual income.

Tim Cook is associated with Apple since 14 years back, when in 1998 he joined the company as the SVP of Worldwide Operations. Additionally he has also served as the EVP of Worldwide Sales and Operations. But when he became the CEO, the Apple Inc. board of directors awarded him with 1 million shares of the company that took his compensation package to $378 million, and made him the highest paid CEO in the entire world.

But in 2012, even after the successful launch of Apple iPhone 5, and Apple iPad 3, iPad 4, and iPad Mini, he only managed to earn $1.4 million in salary, and along with that he also earned $2.8 million in bonuses. In a report stated by Reuters, Tim Cook’s this year salary figure has increased gradually up to $900,000, but he didn’t receive any shares from the board of directors, which led to the downfall in overall salary figures.

The shares received by Cook in the year 2011, will get him the bonuses in two cycles, which would come up in 2016 and 2021 respectively. And the value of those bonuses will largely depend on how Apple Inc. performs in the stock market in the year 2016 and 2021. As of now, the stock has risen up to 37% since October 2011.

It’s been only a short period of 3 months, since Apple iPhone is on sale in US, but as per the company’s reports, it had sold more than 5 million iPhone 5 in the first week itself. Currently, the iPhone 5 is being sold in 47 countries, which includes United States, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, United Kingdom, and Japan.
